So I'm pretty sure my stock turbo went out today. Smoke is coming out of the exhaust and I can hear a funny dissonance in the turbo when it goes to spool upwards. The turbo has most 135k miles on it. I'yard in the middle of a 2.4 build and I left the stock turbo on (for 2k miles) until I had enough cash to get the gt35r (month out).

Question. Can I bulldoze the car like this l miles to my house to shop it and then 50 miles back to my buddies store when I get the money for the new turbo?

This is an piece of cake i: unhook the linkage from the WG activator, then use a wire to agree the linkage to keep the WG open in this temp situation.

This volition disable the turbo so you can still drive the vehicle - merely easy on the throttle (granny drive it for a while and don't race whatsoever Hondas!) since the exhaust through the WG can't handle full exhaust pressure level as if when you blast downwardly on the pedal.

Good luck in your finds. - DSM

I would take the intake off from the turbo and check your shaft play to be for sure that it blew up. If it is pouring smoke I'yard bold its done for. I would say it would exist fine to drive on if you have to but if non push button it exterior your buddies store and throw a cover over it till you get the new turbo.

Question. Can I drive the car like this 50 miles to my business firm to store it and then l miles dorsum to my buddies shop when I get the coin for the new turbo?
Yep, but be careful. A T25 with excessive shaft play has been known to pause journal bearings and thrust plates, sending a heap of goodies southbound into your oil pan.

If in that location is huge shaft play then i would advise not to drive information technology. The fins suspension really hands and just similar jusmx141 pic shows, you dont want those being sucked in your engine. And then whats next? large 16g?

Why don't you start out with a cheap used 16g, see how that feels and so move on to much bigger turbo's. Trust me my 18g is more than I ever idea I would demand but my hunger will grow.

I thought information technology a bit odd to observe the full bearing (admitting shattered into 3 pieces) still inside the CHRA of my original T25. Probably not unusual, though. Mine even so boosted. The aroma was actually great. And the clouds in the rear were the cerise on tiptop.

I drove my car with a blown turbo for 6 months, the car really ran improve once the turbo completly quit spinning--ie., no more than smoking, etc. The turbo froze (probably coked upward bearings) and then there was little hazard of it exploding.

6months? I could see like a week or 2 and even that would exist further than i would become with information technology. A used 14b or t25 tin can be plant for as cheap equally $30
